No Mercy for Paige Miles in 'American Idol' Elimination

After a series of promising early performances, Paige Miles was eliminated from American IdolWednesday night, narrowing the field of contestants to 10. Paige delivered an unsteady performance of the 1984 Phil Collins hit "Against All Odds," that was panned across the entire judging panel.

Paige Miles (From American Idol)Randy Jackson set the tone for the onslaught of criticism. Randy offered that perhaps Paige's voice hadn't fully recovered after a bout with strep throat, but ultimately the performance was unforgivable.

"Really, honestly, I don't know if your voice is back or whatever's happening, but that was honestly terrible. It was terrible," he said.

Ellen Degeneres declined to review Paige's singing and instead complimented her for not falling down in her very-high heels. Kara Dioguardi wasn't so nice. "I'm sorry to say it, but it's the worst vocal that I've ever heard from you and possibly of the season," she said.

Finally, Simon offered a definitive and damning opinion of Paige's number.

"To be honest with you it was like there were five of you singing that song and it got progressively worse each one," Simon said. "It was just all over the place. And the awful thing was is that I knew the point you knew as well, and I think you're gonna be in serious, serious trouble tonight sweetheart. I really do."

He continued: "It's such a shame because you were so good weeks ago, but that song I think has just killed you. I do."

Simon was right. Paige was eliminated shortly afterward.
