Christine Nyanda-Chacha was a mother, wife, sister, friend, philanthropist, innovator and a courageous woman. She worked as a local high school teacher and university lecturer for over 20 years. She founded African Immigrants Social and Cultural Services (AISCS), a community organization that works to better the lives of African immigrants in the United States and in Africa. She will be remembered as a loving, kind, vibrant, selfless and giving person - not only to her family - but to all those who came to know her. She is survived by her husband Ezra and her 5 children, Julius, Pamela, Eliazar, Jeremiah and Sarah.
At the time of her death, she was attending prayer services in South Africa. We are in the process of gathering enough funds to pay for the transport of her body and burial in the United States. As you can imagine, the logistics of getting this done are costly and time consuming. It is estimated that between the release, transport and funeral services that it will take approximately $25,000 to cover the costs. If you can find it within your ability to provide what you can it would be forever appreciated. We are asking the community to come together once again in this time of need to bring Christine home so that she may be laid to rest.
