Wednesday, the 19th of December 2012 - The High Court in Nairobi a few minutes ago sentenced six administration police officers to death over the murders in March 2010 of seven taxi drivers.
The court had earlier on Tuesday found all six of the administration police officers guilty of murdering the taxi drivers as alleged by the prosecution.
The case involves the killing of seven taxi drivers in the Nairobi estate of Kawangware back in 2010. The incident at the time had shocked the nation, even more so when it was discovered that police officers were involved.
Kenya has a benign version of death row, the last time the country killed someone for a crime was back in 1982. Death sentences in Kenya therefore amount to no more than life imprisonments.
