This pocket-sized book is designed for the visitor to Tanzania.  In addition to introducing the language of Kiswahili, it contains extensive and valuable information about Tanzania that will enrich the experience of visiting Tanzania.   The in-depth section on Swahili cuisine, the wide variety of fish plus fruits, vegetables and nuts will stimulate your appetite!  The dictionary contains 125 pages with approximately 2,625 entries almost evenly divided between Swahili to English and English to Swahili translations.  The section on correct pronunciation contains all of the linguistic terminology that describes the sounds of language.  This specialized vocabulary can be applied to any language.

One of my goals in writing the book is to introduce the reader to the wonder of language, all languages.  Kiswahili has created an appreciation in me for the beauty and depth of meaning of human communication, commonly called language.
