The following is a congratulatory message from Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of the United Nations to H.E. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete President of the United Republic of Tanzania on the occasion of the Union Day which was cerebrated of 26 April 2015.
“You’re Excellency,
I am Pleased to offer you and the Government and people of the United Republic of Tanzania my warmest congratulations on the occasion of the Union Day.

This year marks the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, offering a time for reflection, for renewing our commitment to our founding mission, and for redoubling our efforts towards peace, development and human rights for all. Our efforts this year on sustainable development should make a significant and lasting contribution to the global good.

Every country has its unique characteristic and culture, and makes a unique contribution to our joint endeavors. I will continue to count on your country’s active engagement and leadership. Only by working in common cause will succeed in advancing our shared goals.”
